Summary Powerex is a Youngwood, Pennsylvania, based company that has been providing high power semiconductor solutions for over 50 years. The company is seeking a Director of Engineering. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven professional with a broad based and diverse engineering skill set. This position will be responsible to lead an experienced group of engineers in the manufacturing of high power semiconductor solutions such as the fabrication of discrete components and custom power modules. This is an opportunity for an energetic, creative, and results driven individual to make a significant difference for a local workforce. This position will report directly to the CEO. Responsibilities: (1) Lead and direct up to 15 engineers. This will include providing technical direction of related manufacturing engineering activities and technician support; (2) Work closely with all staff members in providing customer solutions; (3) Understand and commit to the concept of total customer satisfaction; (4) Drive manufacturing solutions and introduce best practices to reduce scrap and improve yields; (5) Assist or drive productivity and efficiency projects ensuring root cause corrective countermeasures are implemented; (6) Lead problem solving activities and provide technical support for factory issues; (7)Create or improve a metric set to track performance and demonstrate improvements; (8) Chair and develop the annual manufacturing capital plan and the engineering budget; (9) Assist factory in attainment of all monthly revenue goals and targets; (10) Develop technical roadmap in conjunction with the Staff, Marketing, and Sr. Engineering; (11) Work closely with New Product Engineering team to ensure timely development of new products; (12) Introduce new raw materials solutions; (13) Ensure product released to manufacturing is production worthy and that all engineering documentation is thorough and professional; (14) Recruit appropriate talent, inspire, and develop existing workforce reports; (15) Provide input in many areas such as capacity planning and overall manufacturing solutions; (16) Initially understand, then become extremely proficient in specific high-power requirements and specifications; (17) Develop corporate strategic agendas while ensuring compliance of site tactical goals This energetic leader’s qualifications will include: (1) A post-secondary degree such as a Master of Science in Engineering (strongly desired), or a combination of a technical related engineering degree and a post-secondary business degree; (2) Ten years’ experience and a proven track record in manufacturing or a process based industry with demonstrated growth in responsibilities and duties; (3) Experience working in a unionized factory is desired but not required; (4) A desire to make a difference
